Lymphatic Drainage Massage FAQ: What Nanaimo Clients Actually Want to Know
If you searched for lymphatic drainage massage near you and landed here, these are the questions we get most often once people realize how different that technique is from what most massage studios, including ours, actually specialize in.
Does Easy Cozy offer lymphatic drainage massage as a specific service?
Not as a standalone, dedicated service, no. What we specialize in is full body massage, and by default that means deep tissue pressure, which is a genuinely different technique built for a different purpose. We would rather tell you that directly than have you book expecting one thing and receive another.
What is actually different between lymphatic drainage massage and deep tissue massage?
Lymphatic drainage uses very light, rhythmic strokes at the surface of the skin, because the lymphatic vessels sit close to the skin and respond to gentle, repetitive pressure rather than force. Deep tissue massage does close to the opposite: it uses firm, sustained pressure that works into the deeper muscle and fascial layers to release chronic tension and trigger points. Both are legitimate techniques, they are just built to solve different problems.
Can massage help with mild swelling or that puffy feeling after travel or a long day on my feet?
That specific, targeted effect is what manual lymphatic drainage is designed for, and it is not something we want to claim for deep tissue work, since the mechanism is different. If ongoing swelling is a real medical concern for you, the right step is a certified lymphatic drainage therapist or a conversation with your care team, not a general massage appointment.
What should I ask for if I want something gentler and more circulation-focused, rather than deep muscle work?
Say so when you book. The pressure in a full body session is not fixed, and it can be adjusted toward relaxation rather than depth. Our standard 60-minute full body session already includes 10 to 15 minutes of dedicated leg and foot work, and if that is the area you most want attention on, you can ask to extend it to 20 to 30 minutes instead of booking it as a separate service.
Is it true that massage in general supports circulation?
Massage therapists commonly describe moderate-pressure bodywork, including deep tissue work, as something that can support general blood flow to the areas being treated during a session. That is a broader, more general effect than the specific lymph-focused drainage that manual lymphatic drainage is designed to produce, and we think it is worth keeping those two claims separate rather than treating them as the same thing.
How much does a full body massage cost at Easy Cozy, and how do I book?
Full body sessions are priced by length: $38 for 30 minutes, $70 for 60 minutes, $105 for 90 minutes, and $135 for 120 minutes. Booking takes about 1 to 2 minutes online at easycozy.ca/booking, no payment required upfront, with same-day and next-day appointments frequently available Tuesday through Saturday, 10 AM to 8 PM at 6418 Dover Rd, Nanaimo, BC. You can also call 1-778-561-0208 first if you want to talk through what session makes sense for you.
What if I have a diagnosed condition like lymphedema?
That calls for a certified lymphatic drainage therapist or a referral from your care team. Deep tissue massage also is not appropriate within 48 to 72 hours of an acute injury, right after surgery, over a suspected fracture, at an active infection site, or if you have a significant blood clotting disorder. If you are unsure whether a session is right for you, call before booking rather than guessing.
